A very necessarry experience prior to a trip around South Africa. Anyone listening to Rob and visiting Alexandra could not help but be optimistic about the future of the country. Rob, you were an inspiration. Don and Elaine Mackay-Coghill, Australia.

Diamonds and Dust
Wolmaransstad Diamond Diggings
We visit and overnight in Wolmaransstad, a 5 hour drive from Johannesburg. The visit to the diamond diggings is a unique experience and we attend the "showing" or auction of diamonds that night. (This happens on alternate Thursdays only.)This is a recently discovered little know corner of South Africa.
Guests are driven up to Wolmaransstad, stopping in Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp on the way. This is a unique way of exploring some of South Africa’s little country towns. On arrival at Wolmaransstad we visit the diggings, the sorting factory and the central diamond exchange, where buyers fly in from all over the world to buy raw diamonds on auction.
We attend the auction in the evening after a tour of the "viewing rooms" where we see the buyers examining their parcels of diamonds as well as the central control room.
This is an unforgettable experience of a corner of raw South African life. This is NOT a normal tourist route, and requires an adventurous personality, wishing to experience something very different. The majority of South Africans are unaware of the existence of this place and what takes place here!
Accomodation in comfortable Guest Homes where the Diamond Buyers stay is included. If unavailable then accommodation is provided at local B & B’s.
